Grant Related FAQs
Based on the questions we keep receiving, we are presenting answers to most of the FAQs (frequently asked questions) for your reference:
Question 1: Who are eligible for the US free grant money?
Answer: All U.S. citizens and some legal residents aliens may be eligible to receive U.S. Federal Government, State Government and Private Foundation-funded grants and loans. Residency is the primary requirement. This grant money requires no special qualifications, no repayment, no collateral, no credit checks and is available to you NOW! You as a tax payer and U.S. citizen or resident, are entitled to receive this money!
Question 2: What kind of US Grant Programs are available?
Answer: The Grant Programs are listed in very broad scope. Some Grant Programs offer money to buy a new home, repair your home, pay rent, pay mortgage payments, pay utility bills, purchase a new car, pay for groceries, pay childcare expenses, pay for fuel, pay general living expenses, pay for academic tutoring, purchase clothing, purchase school supplies, pay legal services, pay summer camp expenses, pay off debts, pay for music lessons, pay for art lessons, pay for any extracurricular activities, pay real estate taxes, medical expenses, general welfare and much more!
Question 3: How do I receive the grant payments?
Answer: If you are accepted, you will receive notice via mail. The notice will show award amount and outline reasons for determination. Soon after, you will receive a check for the posted amount.
Question 4: How much grant can I get?
Answer: The amount can vary considerably and is dependent in part on the needs of the individual or business. Grants can range from $1,000 to $500,000. Larger grant amounts are usually reserved for businesses.
Question 5: Will bad credit prevent me from getting free grant money?
Answer: Grant money requires no special qualifications, no repayment, no collateral, no credit checks. Money is granted irrespective of an individuals credit history.
Question 6: What grant I should apply for and what preparation I should do to apply for that grant?
Answer: To successfuly apply for a grant - good preparation, thoughtful planning and consise packaging is essential. The applicant should become familiar with all of the pertinent program criteria from which the assistance is sought. Applicants should remember that the basic requirements, application forms, information and procedures vary with the agency making the grant award. Question 8: What are federal cash grants and who can apply for it?
Answer: If you are considering starting, improving or gowing a business? Why not start with what has often been called the "world’s largest source of free money"… the federal government!
There has recently been a dramatic increase in governmental assistance for economic development. As a result, the federal government is willing to provide necessary cash to start or improve business.
Most people are unaware of these grants programs simply because the government does not have the money to advertise them! Consequently, for most of us, it can be somewhat frustrating finding the right information, locating the right government office, and knowing what programs best suit our needs.
The average person does not know that it is especially during these times of cutbacks that our government is willing to divert large amounts of funding in the form of grants and loans to support the economic growth of our country. Interestingly, many people think that they need to be either extremely rich or poor to receive cash from the government. Yet another common misconception is that receiving a grant (ie, "something for nothing") might cause some embarassment for the receiver. Why not benefit from the government? As a taxpayer, you are paying for these government programs. Don’t you deserve to get something back from them?
Question 9: What are state grants and who can apply for it?
Answer: State Governments distribute grant money for an ever increasing range of purposes.
Politicians realize their success and longevity in office is tied in a very large part, to the prosperity and growth in their community. Economic growth creates jobs, jobs generate tax revenue, taxes in turn can be used to finance social programs to help the less fortunate in our community. Tax revenues can also be used to further existing grant programs.
Economic development is forefront on the government’s agenda. The government must ensure a stable economy to ensure adequate tax inflows. To add liquidity, the government grants money and professional assistance to individuals and small businesses. Small business accounts for a very large percentage of current and future job growth.
State Governments don’t advertise grant programs very well and many don’t advertise at all. Most people are unaware of the money, expertise and other resources available through their State Governments.
The main criteria for grant acceptance for State programs is residency. However, grant programs are available to businesses willing to relocate and employ people in the target State.
There are many types of grant money programs offered in each of the states, and new programs are being offered every year. If there currently is not a program that meets your needs, let agency officials and your state legislators know. If a particular need becomes evident, they may create a program for it. Remember, politicians want you to succeed because it is their best insurance at election time.
